Division of Forensic Medicine

Dr. Heather Rozzi serves as the medical director for the Forensic Examiner Team at WellSpan York Hospital. She has served in multiple roles including chair of the Forensic Section of ACEP. She has a clinical interest in forensic medicine, intimate partner violence, child abuse, sexual assault, elder mistreatment, and human trafficking. She has received many ACEP grants to develop education curriculum on clinical forensic medicine.

The WellSpan York Hospital Forensic Examiner Team provides medical care and forensic services to victims of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, elder mistreatment, human trafficking, and pediatric physical and sexual abuse. Dr. Rozzi and members of the Forensic Examiner Team provide education on forensic topics for YHEM residents in both lecture-based and hands-on formats. During residency training, residents have the opportunity to gain further exposure to forensic medicine through spending time with members of the forensic examiner team in the ED, at the Children’s Advocacy Center, and on inpatient units. Residents with a particular interest in clinical forensic medicine may join the Forensic Interest track. These residents are provided with more in-depth forensic education and have the opportunity to perform medical forensic examinations and participate in research projects. Interested residents may also join county and statewide task forces as well as attend community outreach events and medical forensic conferences.
