YHEM Residency

Dr. Daniel Kreider serves as the Emergency Ultrasound Division Director at WellSpan York Hospital. The ultrasound division provides a variety of educational opportunities for clinicians, maintains credentialing for a variety of ultrasound modalities, and manages QA/QI for billed departmental studies.  The team offers a medical student rotation, emergency medicine resident rotation, point-of-care ultrasound credentialing opportunities, and an advanced emergency medicine ultrasonography fellowship.  The longstanding EUFAC-accredited fellowship program provides expertise in ultrasound education, administration, and research.  Diagnostic and procedural ultrasound training includes a variety of modalities including ultrasound thoracentesis, regional anesthesia, and transesophageal echocardiography. The emergency ultrasound division continues to strive for excellence in ultrasound education and provide the highest quality patient care to our population.

Over the course of residency training, EM residents develop and refine their ultrasound skills every shift. Besides the core ultrasound division faculty, YHEM is fortunate to have multiple other faculty members with prior ultrasound fellowship training. Dedicated rotations in both the PGY 1 and PGY 2 years emphasize the commitment to developing EM physicians with a strong skillset in diagnostic and procedural ultrasound. Through the longitudinal resident interest track, residents have many opportunities to actively engage in ongoing ultrasound research projects and participate in regional and national ultrasound conferences. The ultrasound division also collaborates with the medical toxicology and critical care divisions to provide the annual TOXUS Toxicology and Ultrasound Conference and WellSpan Critical Care Symposium.
